In addition to its many artifacts pertaining to the rich and varied
history of the city of Fall River, the Historical Society also maintains
an archive devoted to the preservation of documents relating to
the events and families of Fall River's past. This archive is open
Thursday and Friday, and is available for use by appointment. For
those who are unable to do their own research, we provide the service
for a fee.
Research is undertaken for a fee of $25.00 per hour ($20.00 for
Historical Society members). This includes up to one hour of research
and 10 supporting photocopies when appropriate. Only documents held
by the Fall River Historical Society will be searched. You will
be notified if more information is available; additional time may
be purchased in hour increments.
The fee you pay is based on the time we spend on the research, not
on the results. While many searches produce results, not all do.
Although every effort will be made to satisfy your request for information,
there may be none available. Please be aware that your payment is
non-refundable.
Please complete the Research Request Form and forward it to the
Historical Society. Research requests submitted on-line must be
paid by credit card at the time of submission. Requests submitted
by standard mail are payable by check, money order or credit card;
payment must accompany the request. The Historical Society accepts,
Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
Requests are answered in the order in which payment is received.
Due to the volume of requests, please allow 5 to 7 weeks for a reply.
If you have any further questions about research services, please
contact the Historical Society archives at (508) 679-1071, Extension
104.
